Veson Nautical Hires Maritime Finance Professional; Augments Development and Customer Support Staff

BOSTON, MA– (June 30, 2008) –Veson Nautical, the U.S.-based maritime software developer that delivers outstanding chartering, operations and accounting solutions for cargo transportation, today announced five new staff members have joined the Boston and Singapore offices. Veson has significantly expanded its pre- and post-installation team as well as its Summer Internship Program, recently hiring a previous intern as a full time employee.

John Veson, president of Veson Nautical remarked, “As we continue to grow, we have made some strategic hires to ensure the satisfaction of our customers. We have added a director of client services who will work closely with me, helping our existing customers post-implementation realize the ultimate value and benefits from our software. We have hired a development manager to lead our development team. In addition, we are pleased to welcome two new application consultants and three summer interns who will be working with the software engineering team. Finally, we are pleased to employ a former intern who returns to Veson in a full time capacity as a software engineer. We are looking forward to the contributions all our new staff will make and we extend our warmest welcome to them.”

Financial Services Expert Joins Veson; Development, Engineering Teams Expand
Evangelos Efstathiou, a highly skilled executive from the shipping and commercial finance industries, brings to Veson his expertise in financial risk management, strategy consulting, and software client support. As director of client services, Evan works with Veson’s clients to help them realize the full benefits of IMOS. He focuses on the development of IMOS sales strategies and commercializing new products and services for our clients. Evan will also develop strategic alliances with customers and partner vendors, and build Veson’s thought leadership at trade shows, conferences, and other venues.

Evan comes to Veson from Marsoft, a maritime risk management firm based in Boston. As Associate Partner there, Evan was instrumental in expanding the company’s client base, commercializing new products and broadening the capabilities of Marsoft’s financial management systems. He holds an S.B. in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.

David A. Kanof joins the Boston team as Development Manager. David brings extensive technical experience in the development of commercial software and has helped guide numerous products from conception through commercial release. David leads Veson’s development team and interns across all the company’s offices. He is responsible for managing the overall development schedule, releases, standards and procedures to ensure that the company’s software continues to meet or exceed customer expectations, as well as prioritizing development activities. He works with the staff to conceive new products, frameworks and features; contributes to the product architecture roadmaps and provides technical insights and vision.

David was previously with SIMtone Corporation, a start up in the Internet content delivery space based out of Durham, North Carolina, where he held the position of Vice President of Engineering. He was responsible for the company’s R&D and product development efforts. He attended the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.

Rounding out the new hires is Brian Berry, based in Boston and Michelle Lim Meiyan in Singapore, both Applications Consultants. In their roles, Michelle and Brian will work with Veson customers to provide implementation support, offer trouble-shooting and training, and deliver post-implementation services. Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and arrives with more than three years experience in IT project management and software quality assurance. Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University. She also attended Ngee Ann Polytechnic where she earned a Diploma in IT- Computer Studies and completed Majors in Software Engineering and Multimedia Application Design.

Summer Internship Program Brings Skilled Professionals to the Veson Team
Veson Nautical is also continuing its Summer Intern Program, which attracts engineering and development talent from top universities in Boston and New York. Summer Interns this year include Dustin Brody, who recently received his Masters in Computer Science from Brandeis University; Prannay Budhraja, who is studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); and Ke Jin, who is a graduate student at Columbia University in New York. All three join the Boston team this summer as Software Engineer Interns, reporting directly to David Kanof.

Thomas Norris, Veson’s newest Software Engineer, is a former Summer Intern and now a full time employee in the Boston office. Thomas joins the rest of the staff developing comprehensive software solutions for Veson’s international customer base. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in computer science and a minor in mathematics from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
